Compatibility Insights: Lightbox Studio x SEOSpace

I use SEOSpace as a default SEO tool on my website and clients' sites, and I noticed a minor issue that affects the SEO score for page links: links should open in a new tab. Check the screenshot below: SEOSpace is flagging that the Lightbox Studio links are not opening in a new tab.

Root Cause

As you might know, Squarespace static assets, including images, are not stored on your domain but on their own CDN domain, making these assets external resources. While Lightbox Studio does not redirect you anywhere with the image links, it uses the links for Lightbox handling, meaning it opens the lightbox images using the href attribute.

To fix this, simply insert target="_blank" into the lightbox handle and re-scan the page.

Now the links SEO score is perfect!
